His research, for more than a decade, has advanced actor-driven, socio-ecological approaches within living lab approaches to tackle climate and environmental challenges in agrifood systems. This work spans plant nutrition and productivity (quality), spatial and temporal crop use-efficiency (crop diversification), soil health, and residue management strategies aimed at improving nutrient conservation and soil carbon sequestration, all through participatory methods and multidisciplinary collaboration. https://forskning.ruc.dk/da/persons/hnie
